The Berlusconi government responds to political crisis with the cuts to social
As the crisis raises unemployment, poverty and inequality, the government responds with the dismantling of the welfare state through cuts and measures that promote a merchant and charitable welfare where the public by portraying any less respect for constitutional principles, those who see the state committed to removing all obstacles to social equality (Article 3).
on social funds rose from 2 billion through 2008 to just 500 million in 2011. In particular, the national fund for social policies goes from 930 to 275 million. One for family policies from 345 to 52.5. The Fund for the long-term care will not even 1 euro in 2011.
transfers to regions, provinces and municipalities are reduced by 18 billion in two years. Social workers are not employees of Division B. Ensure greater stability and better wages
cuts affect users, but also social workers, already living in precarious contractual conditions and poorly paid. The real risk is to not see his contract renewed, or have to accept working conditions even worse. And in this dramatic situation is unacceptable is the attitude of the three biggest cooperatives, proposing the renewal of the contract for the more than 250 thousand social workers with an average increase of only 38 € for three years. Offense to the dignity of all those people that every day, despite the difficulties, ensuring the survival of social services.
We do not agree and we are on the side of workers and social workers in their struggles for greater stability and better wages. We are committed to promoting and supporting a welfare model is based on the rights of persons benefiting from the services of those who work there. Why can not run a welfare system that pits the rights of users to those of social workers, because there can be a good service without a good job. A model that provides the public presence as the only way to guarantee universal social rights.
Need a real confrontation between unions, associations and institutions aimed at securing an agreement which respects the dignity and rights of social workers, to eliminate the use of procurement to the maximum discount that compromise the quality of services and contractual protection operators. For these reasons, we will be in place Dec. 3 at the side of those unions which have called demonstrations across Italy against the deafening silence of cooperatives and institutions and to provide a new and serious employment contract.
